The Planning Process

  • Quotation – Contact us by using the Sewage Plant Quote Request, by phone or email. With some basic information we can prepare a proposal and quotation. For difficult access sites, or existing houses a site visit is recommended, this is a free, no-obligation visit where our experienced personnel can assess the site and make recommendations of system type and location and advise on disposal field location.
  • Contract – To proceed with design or installation a contract is signed, a site visit is advisable to allow confirmation of costs of installation.
  • Design – An effluent design is required as part of the building consent application. This can be supplied by your engineer or ours. Allow 2 weeks to arrange for a design to be done prior to building consent application. If you indicate where you prefer the plant and disposal field to be located this can be taken into account in the design.
  • Building Consent Application – This is usually done by the home owner, housing company or architect for the whole project. The effluent design is just one part of the building application. Council processing fees apply.
Time frame for council processing depends on the number of consents being processed and the complexity of the individual project.
  • Resource Consent Application – This is not usually required for individual home sewage treatment but in some cases with small property sizes or large houses a resource consent from council is also required. This adds extra time and cost to the consent procedure. The design process will identify if a resource consent is required. Sometimes installation of water-saving devices will avoid a resource consent being necessary.
  • Installation – Once building consent has been granted installation can start. The decision on whether installation should be at the start or end of the house construction depends on site conditions and access.
  • Commissioning & Sign Off – Once the installation is complete and power is on the system is commissioned by our service staff and a producer statement for construction is supplied. The system should also be checked by the design engineer and a Producer Statement Design should be issued. These are then submitted to council by the company which submitted the building consent application to get final Certificate of Completion for the project. A signed maintenance contract is also required for council sign off.
  • Maintenance – Installation and paperwork are now complete, and as long as you have signed a service contract with us regular six-monthly servicing will now ensure your plant is running at optimum performance.
